Mens Patent Shoes
Mens black patent leather shoes and evening shoes
Patent leather is a type of japanned leather that has been given a high gloss, shiny finish. It is used to make the most formal of shoes, shoes used for white- and black-tie occasions, red carpet galas, uniform events and high ceremonies. Black Patent Leather Shoes come in many shapes and styles, from Loafers to Oxfords, but they are all made from a superior grade of fine grain leather specially treated to a glass-like finish that catches the light.See alo our Black Patent Leather slipper and Patent Albert Slippers
An early reference to patent leather can be found in the 1793 British periodical, The Bee, or Literary Weekly Intelligencer which recorded that "a gentleman of the name of Hand" in Birmingham, England had obtained a patent for preparing flexible leather with a glaze and polish that rendered it impervious to water and required only a moist sponge to restore its lustre. Historically, Patent Shoes were treated with a linseed oil–based lacquer but their modern variants now use resin or high quality plastic coatings to maintain their eternal polish.
